4 Ways To Treat Migraines

If you’re prone to headaches and migraines, you’ll already know what a serious toll they can take on your life… they can incapacitate you very quickly indeed and affect you for days. And, unfortunately, there is currently no cure for migraines so it’s worth trying to find a source of treatment that works particularly well for you.

Acupuncture, for example, is one of the best ways to alleviate pain and discomfort, and can get you back on your feet before you know it. This procedure has actually been around for at least 3,000 years and as such, is one of the oldest and most commonly used treatments in the world, no doubt because it’s both effective and completely natural.

This might be a great avenue to go down if you’ve never tried it before and find yourself suffering increasingly as time goes on.

Other options to consider include over-the-counter painkillers like aspirin, paracetamol and ibuprofen, but these are typically most effective taken at the first signs of a migraine, which may not always be possible.

You might also want to look into triptan if ordinary painkillers aren’t helping to relieve your symptoms. Triptan medication is a specific painkiller for migraines, available as tablets, injections and nasal sprays.

Even if you’re not experiencing any nausea or vomiting, you could also try anti-sickness medication, as this has also been proven to be effective at addressing migraine symptoms.

If you’d like to try a more holistic approach, come and see us at Cheshire acupuncture clinic Mill Acupuncture to find out more about how this kind of treatment could really help you manage your symptoms and improve your quality of life.
